Accepted Types of Tenant

Only the following types of tenant(s) are acceptable to our insurers:

Employed / Students / Retired
Tenants in full or part time employment or education, are self-employed or retired.

DSS or Benefit Claiming
Tenants on unemployment, housing or disability benefit with a tenancy agreement directly between the tenant and the landlord or their appointed letting agent.

Unoccupied Extended
A property that is vacant from inception of the policy and is on the market to be let to Employed / Students / Retired / DSS or Benefit Claiming tenants..

Excesses

The Standard Policy Excesses are as follows:

Employed, Student, Retired and DSS or Benefit Claiming tenancies
£100 (£250 for Contents only policies)

Unoccupied properties
£250

All grade listed properties, individual flats (excluding Scotland) and any property with more than 50% non-standard roof
£500

Subsidence, Landslip or Heave
£1000.

Any other additional specific excess that may be applied will be advised to you.

Unsure of your Rebuild Sum Insured?

You must select a rebuild sum insured that covers the full rebuild cost of your property, not the market value.

As a large number of the property owners we speak to are unsure of the exact rebuild sum insured required for their rental property, we designed our policy to offer a choice of set sums insured to choose from as follows:

Rebuild Sum Insured up to:
£100,000, £125,000, £150,000, £175,000, £200,000, £250,000, £300,000, £400,000, £500,000, £750,000

The rebuild or reinstatement value of a property is usually stated within a surveyors report obtained for mortgage purposes. You may also seek guidance on how much to insure your property for by visiting the Association of British Insurers’ (ABI) website: http://abi.bcis.co.uk

Neither Keysafe Insurance Services or JBI International Insurance Brokers Ltd are qualified in any way to advise you on how much you need to insure your property for. It is your sole responsibility to ensure that you have sufficient cover in place.
